About

Join David Benjamin, Head of Special Collections & University Archives, for a Gallery Talk featuring UCF Libraries' Space Week exhibition: From Orbit to Archives. Discover UCF's place in the story of space exploration through photographs, memorabilia and more! A Special Collections & University Archives Exhibit inside the 4th Floor Gallery. Exhibition talks will be held inside the Gallery on October 27th at 4:15pm and October 28th at 3pm! This exhibition will be on view from Monday, October 12th through Friday, December 18th, 2026 and features selections from the University of Central Florida Libraries Special Collections & University Archives' Space Program collections, highlighting the history, culture, and excitement of human exploration beyond Earth. The University of Central Florida's connection to the space industry dates to its founding as Florida Technological University in 1963, when it was established to support Florida's growing aerospace and defense workforce. Through photographs, ephemera, memorabilia, technical publications, and other unique materials, the exhibition documents key milestones in space exploration while illustrating its lasting influence on science, technology, education, and popular culture. These materials help preserve the stories, achievements, and experiences of the people and organizations that shaped the American space race.
